Why this tool is useful
Light Gray is a key test for monitor brightness uniformity and backlight consistency. At this luminance level, typically around 70-80 percent white, backlight non-uniformity, clouding, and vignetting become clearly visible. Look for areas of the screen that appear brighter or darker than the rest: perfect panels show completely uniform illumination, while panels with backlight issues show a subtle patchwork of brightness variation.
