Why this tool is useful
IPS glow is a characteristic light scatter effect inherent to the IPS LCD panel manufacturing process. Unlike backlight bleed which is caused by uneven backlight distribution, IPS glow appears as a silvery or yellowish haze concentrated in the corners of the screen, and it shifts in appearance as you change your viewing angle. This test renders a dark field at different luminance levels to help you map the extent and intensity of IPS glow on your specific panel. Moderate corner glow is universal in IPS monitors and is not considered a defect.
