Why this tool is useful
A dead pixel is a display sub-pixel that has permanently stopped functioning, appearing as a fixed black or colored dot that never changes regardless of what is shown on screen. This checker cycles through primary and secondary colors to make stuck or dead pixels maximally visible. A stuck pixel that cannot display red will show as a dark spot on the red screen but appear normally on the green or blue test screens. Run this test in the first days after receiving a new monitor or laptop, as most manufacturer warranties require you to report dead pixels within a specific window, often 30 days of purchase.
